Good ole mountain water! Guests can enjoy our peaceful shallow creek, perfect for wading, relaxing, and exploring nature. While the creek is not suitable for deep swimming, it provides a refreshing place to cool off, splash around, and enjoy the natural beauty of the campground. Depending on how much rain we get, the more full our wading area will be. Normally, water comes ankle or knee deep to an adult. This is a great place to sit and cool off from the North Carolina summer heat. Grab a chair or an inner tube, and relax!
You are able to walk the entire creek area in the park, however please be mindful of other's campsites along the creek and do not run through other's sites.

Please be aware that the natural swimming area is home to wildlife that is beyond our control. With that being said, we do have water snakes in the creek. Normally they hide under rocks and in bushes along the backside of the creek. These snakes are completely harmless and nonvenomous. If you ignore them and leave them alone then they will leave you alone in return.
Pictured is a queen snake. Queen snakes are a species of nonvenomous semiaquatic snake and mainly eat crayfish which are also in our creeks. Occasionally they eat small fish and tadpoles.
